Global Integrity named a winner in the Changemakers Collaborative Competition - Ending Corruption: Honesty Instituted

Media Release | July 2, 2007 | Washington, D.C. — Global Integrity, an independent monitor of governance and corruption issues, has been honored by Ashoka, a global organization of the world's leading social entrepreneurs. A diverse group of organizations from across the globe have showcased their most successful strategies to create a more transparent and accountable society in the Ashoka’s Changemakers.net “Ending Corruption: Honesty Instituted” collaborative competition. Global Integrity is one of the three winners from more than 80 innovations participating in this initiative. The judges selected 9 finalists for outstanding innovation, social impact and sustainability and the public elected the top three innovations. Each of the winners will receive US $5,000 cash awards from Changemakers.

Global Integrity is an independent, international non-profit organization tracking governance and corruption trends around the world in over 80 countries. Among other work, it produces the Global Integrity Report, an annual compilation of in-depth country assessments that combines qualitative journalism with quantitative data gathering to assess the existence, effectiveness, and enforcement of good governance and anti-corruption mechanisms. Global Integrity has been highlighted by the World Bank as one of three key, “Independent civil society organizations [making] a variety of noteworthy contributions to the monitoring of the quality of checks and balances institutions."

“Ending Corruption: Honesty Instituted” Collaborative Competition utilizes Changemakers’ online, open source competition model, which attracted entries from 29 countries. Judges include Gillian Caldwell, Executive Director of human rights organization WITNESS; Grazyna Kopinska, Director of the Stefan Batory Foundation – Anti-Corruption Program; Lekha Singh, founder of Aidmatrix; and Cole S. Wilbur, Trustee and former President of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
